Cast directly from a French antique sculpture (c.1928), this mesmerizing female statue by one of the best known artists of the Art Deco era, Demetre Chiparus (1888-1950), is often likened to the image of famous dancer Josephine Baker. Though only her face remains uncovered, the artist has captured a remarkable fluidity in the sensuously suggestive scales, squid, starfish and other crustaceans strategically placed on this beautifully stylized sea nymph bronze statue. This Design Toscano exclusive high quality lost wax bronze Art Deco sculpture is hand rubbed in a multidimensional sepia patina finish and set atop a solid black marble base.
